RULES

R1.00 PAYMENT

As set down in the constitution, no payment, either direct or indirect, shall be made to any member of the Society for services, other than legitimate expenses. However, the Committee may, at its discretion, appoint and pay an outside professional.

R2.00 CASTING

The casting of each public production shall be by audition. The casting shall be decided solely by the producer and members of the Committee, as necessary. Casting for play-readings and dramatic performances shall be carried out in such a manner as the Committee shall decide from time to time. This can include the casting of non-members who will then become members and pay the annual subscription.

R3.00 REHEARSALS

If any member of the cast absent themselves from rehearsals too often without just cause, the producer shall have the right to expel said member from the cast. Should a member of the cast be found unsuitable for a part, the producer has the power of substitution.

R4.00 PERFORMANCES

Anybody who is not a member of the cast & crew or theatre staff must have permission from the Stage Manager to be in the wings during a performance. Actors in costume must not go front of house when the audience is present (unless the performance requires it).

R5.00 CHOICE OF PLAY

The General Committee will invite prospective producers to submit plays for consideration. These plays will form the basis of play readings and the committee will make the final choice of producer and play.

R6.00 AUTHORISATION

No member may make any purchase, or enter into any contract on behalf of the Society, without prior permission of a Committee Member in administrative matters or the Producer in production matters.

R7.00 SCRIPTS

For reasons of copyright, photocopies of scripts will not be used for rehearsals and productions. The full cost of scripts for non-cast members and half of the cost for the cast members will be met from production expenses. Cast members will pay for the remaining half of the cost of their scripts themselves. Non-cast members wishing to keep their scripts after a production must pay the same amount as cast members.

R8.00 SAFETY

For their own and others' protection, cast and crew must familiarise themselves with all safety documents relevant to a production, including the risk assessment and the theatre evacuation procedures.
