The Midland Players amateur dramatic society has been active in Sheffield for over 40 years. We  perform two plays each year in the University of Sheffield Drama Studio, and sometimes undertake other project in the summer.  Originally formed from Midland Bank staff,  we have for many years been an open group, welcoming all comers. New members are always welcome both on and off the stage.

Our Next Show - All My Sons, by Arthur Miller

First produced in 1947, All my Sons remains a powerful reflection on society and the impact of behaviours motivated by a lust for wealth. The multi-award winning play questions the place of morality in a world where the selfish survive best; exploring the relationship between capitalist culture and human decency.

Miller views these issues though a family lens, considering the actions and impacts on individual families in a small community, challenging us to consider a redefinition of family to something beyond our own garden fences.

Previous Show  - An Enemy of the People, by Henrik Ibsen

Small image of flyerThe original "fake news" story, more relevant than ever and in a modern setting, our next show will run from the 19th to the 22nd September 2018.

Dr Stockmann discovers a pollution problem in the town's baths, and though she is initially supported by the press and the community, her allies one by one fall away and turn against her. She is obsessed with the truth but at what cost to her family?

At best a flawed hero, Stockmann is declared an Enemy of the People, and perhaps that is also the truth.
