The Midland Players amateur dramatic society has been active in Sheffield for nearly 40 years. We perform two plays each year in the University of Sheffield Drama Studio, plus other projects. Originally formed from Midland Bank staff, we have for many years been an open group, welcoming all comers. New members are always welcome both on and off the stage.
One Act Plays
In addition to our regular full length plays we sometimes undertake other projects in different locations, and/or of a different nature from our usual work. Our current project is called 'Common People' and consists of three one-act plays:
- 'On Tidy Endings' by Harvey Fierstein
- 'Celebration' by Harold Pinter
- 'Talk in the Park' by Alan Ayckbourn
These 3 plays will be performed on the following nights:
Friday 10th and Saturday 11th June 2016 at Chapel Playhouse, Eccles Road, Chapel en le Frith (doors open 7pm for a 7:30pm start)
Friday 1st July 2016 at Theatre Deli Sheffield, The Moor, Sheffield city centre (doors open 7pm for a 7:30pm start)
The first two play are also individual entries at the SADATA One-Act Play Festival, commencing 23rd June 2016
Next Full Length Show - To be Announced
Our next full length show will be chosen in the next few weeks and will run in the Autumn. If you'd like to be involved, contact us below.
Previous Show - One Man Two Guvnors by Richard Bean
(adapted from Servant of Two Masters by Carlo Goldoni, with songs by The Beatles and Grant Olding)
This hilarious comedy - a fantastic modern take on the classic comedia dell-arte style - ran from the 23rd to the 26th March 2016 at the Sheffield University Drama Studio.
